1. IP addresses is a distinct address that every computer connected to the internet has. The purpose of the address is to allow the network to locate the computer. As for the Domain name server, its primary function is to translate IP numbers into Internet addresses that are human readable.
2. ICCAN stands for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. They overlook the domain name system.
3. 3 tips for running a successful blog are as followed- write about what you're interested in, use pictures and limit the number of links you have in an entry.
4. The author describes RSS as a way to "suscribe" to a blog. He recommends the RSS program readers "feed reader" or "aggregator." I have yet to use any RSS programs.
5. The steps to record a podcast are as followed- Choose a name for your podcast, Record your podcast episode, Add the audio to your podcast and the publicize your podcast. I have yet to download any podcasts.

Chapter 2 assessment
1. The author professes that with the downloadable FlickrDown, multiple photos are able to be downloaded at one time. Once one's username is entered and the thumbnails are loaded, one then proceeds to check the desired photos thus downloading photos in batches rather than individually.
2. Once a photograph is deleted from a card, thy aren't actually erased; the address to locate them are simply relocated. In order to recover treasured, deleted photographs one must use a photorecovery program such as MediaRecover.com or Photosrecovery.com .
3. The primary source that the author offers for uploading sound clips is the Freesound project. 3 samples i found on the website were a dog barking, lion roaring and a cat's hiss.
4. So far the number of books digitally converted by Project Gutenberg are over 100,000. The top five eBooks viewed from the website are The Outlines of Science, Manners Customs and Dress during the Middle Ages an During the Renaissansce period, Alice Adventures in Wonderland, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and the Illustrated History Of Furniture.

Instead of Boolean operators, the author recommends other ways for getting better search results- Excluding words, searching within a site, using synonyms, searching for a title, searching for a url or searching for specific types of documents. The 3 most beneficial ways of narrowing down search results introduced to me were using quotations to search for a title, asterics as wildcardds and the minus sign to exclude words.
